The Southern Baptist Vocational Evangelist
The men and women who are included in this directory are members of Southern Baptist Churches and have
been called into the ministry as full-time vocational evangelists.
A vocational evangelist is not a pastor of a church. A vocational evangelist is not employed as a church staff
member with primary responsibilities to that church. Vocational evangelists are usually not financially
independent; they are in a faith ministry which is supported by love offerings.
Some of the areas included in their ministries are evangelistic crusades, revival meetings, and Bible
conferences. Some have more than one type of ministry (i.e., music and ventriloquism), but each is
supportive of the local church.
The Conference of Texas Baptist Evangelists is not an official organization with powers to recommend and /or
discipline its members. Members of the Conference of Texas Baptist Evangelists are:
* full-time vocational evangelists.
* members in good standing of a Southern Baptist church in Texas.
* residents of the State of Texas.
* current in their dues for the year.
Each church, in its sovereignty and subject to no power or authority of the Convention, ordains and licenses
ministers and calls and employs pastors and staff. The Southern Baptist Convention and other Baptist
organizations independent of the Convention select their own chaplains, missionaries, evangelists and staff.
Consequently, inclusion in this directory is not necessarily an endorsement.
